    1. The whole Khadir Khan embroglio. US did not raise a gigantic stink about Pakistan proliferating nukes to Libiya and ilk in exchange for real cooperation.

    2. Two attempts on Musharaf's life have changed his mind about the whole "keep your enemies even closer" thing.
