Who makes a nice 288 GTO? Scale fairly unimportant, but probably 18th or 43rd preferred... Kyosho, perhaps?

    Thanks!

I'm sure there are several makers in 1:43. In 1:18 you've got Bburago and Hotwheels. I believe the Hotwheels are based off of the Bburago casting though... I've got the Hotwheels version, pre-Elite, and it is pretty nice, IMO.

The best currently available model is in 1:12 scale made by Tamiya

Taillight size incorrect, front fenders too voluminous. Have one made by Amalgam in the UK, in the scale 1:8.

Yeah, if I didn't know it was a model, I would think that's a real car. Great use of trees in the background, and camera held low for the photo.

could you please give some pics of your 288 GTO model, I did not find it at Amalam web site. Was it built to order?

I still vote for Make Up. Bigger isn't always best. In the case of modelcars that actually is almost never the case.

I think mr Massini is suggesting that you have one made by Amalgam, not that he is having one made. Of course I could be wrong in which case I would love to see pics as well.

As many of you know, I distribute Amalgam models. They do not offer the 288GTO, MM was only suggesting they build quality models. I do have the car in 1/18 scale in HotWheels and the Elite version, as well as in 1/12 scale by Tamiya and MW in resin, and in 1/14 scale by Brianza - email for more details.

I think the Hot Wheels Elite typically run around $80. What does the 1:12 Tamiya cost? Are the BBR 1:43's in the $200 range (as the ones I currently have are), or less being more "mass-produced"?

Thanks again for all the inputs!

For the 1/12 Tamiya you could call Morry at Collectorstudio.com.

Kyosho makes a 1/43 288 in red and black (which is a nice change, though not original). Fair price, but sold out everywhere; got mine on Ebay for $39 each.

First of all hello to all members of FerrariChat :)
I have a 1:18 288 GTO by BBurago but made several changes in it so that it's closer to the real thing.

I left the seats and the dash in their original color for one reason only - I like lighter interiors :) I know that this way is not true to the 1:1, but...

If you don't want to go through modifying the whole model I think that you'll be better off with an Elite HotWheels if you want a 1:18 model of it of course.

They are still not hard to find in various online stores and even on ebay. However, of all the Kyosho 1/43, I think the GTO rendition is the poorest in the line...

Really? I had a hard time finding one of each a few months ago; I only saw them on Ebay (from Hong Kong). Maybe the US stores got more stock. I know some never made it to the US, like the black BBi, but I digress...
