308 supercharger

Any feedback on this kit? (Raptor supercharger from 928 motorsports). Found locally and considering adding to my 85 Euro 308. My engine has 50K miles, and adding a supercharger to my otherwise stock engine seems risky. Thanks

That thing has been for sale forever on Craigslist, kit has been discussed before. I don’t recall the name of the thread

 

The late Mike C here had one on his 308 for at least the past 20 years.

 

"Late"? I didn't realize that. A shame, he was a good guy, as far as I could tell from a message board.

 

He was a really good guy in terms of my dealings with him, I had no idea, that's terrible.

 

The "problems" with boost are longevity at the cylinder head to block sealing joint and the ring gap is usually increased for boost (for the higher cylinder temperatures) -- go to youtube and look at some of the Steve Morris Engines videos for the intricate machining (receiver grooves) and special sealing rings and copper head gaskets that he uses. He's at crazy boost/HP levels so not a direct comparison of what you'd need to do, but there is no "free lunch" .

 

Thank you all, I didn't realize this kit has been discussed before, I'll do some digging. It does appear to be missing parts.

He was a good friend. In fact his was the first Ferrari I ever drove in my life back in school. I was a poor student FCA member that would go to the track events just to see the Ferraris and he let me behind the wheel for a few laps. Same car but BEFORE the supercharger. Last time we spoke was at an event here near Birmingham in Nov of 20. Only FCA track event that covid year anywhere in the country.

Mikes supercharger was not this one though. His was my setup that I personally flew out and installed for him all those yrs ago.. Great guy.

Mike was great, spent a week at his place, played with the Ferrari and went to a lot BBQ.

 

Such a shame, Mike has helped me in the past with the rebuilding of my suspensions very helpful and very informative person. Definitely he will be missed.

 

Are there any supercharger kits on the market for the 308QV, that anyone would recommend? 928 Motorsports doesn't seem to be active right now. Thanks in advance.

 

Not a kit persay. We do them as builds. But depending on your diy capability, might be possible to supply the majority of parts. Feel free to drop me a PM.
