    Hi,

I'm looking at a 1989 328 GTS with 22,053 miles, red-on-tan with fresh belt service. Appreciate any opinions on this mileage level. Also, can anyone recommend a good shop for a PPI in the Chicago area?
    Thanks, rmc

Well I can't really help with the PPI, other than (unless others disagree), Continental Autosports.

As far as mileage, When I was searching back in 2006, the average mileage based on a sample of cars was around 21,000 miles. When I broke it out for each year I was getting averages of 18k to 22k miles from '86 to '89.

IMO, I'd say that is right on.....

Some members will tell ya dont believe any mile numbers...

    Thanks easyrider.
It just so happens the car I'm looking at is a Continental Autosports car.

price seems, uh, a tad high in my opinion. But then again, it was just reduced!

from an active searcher I'd say this is $ 10k too rich...but lots of factors influence sale/purchase as previously cited. good luck.

I'd agree it's too high, even with a recent service. Also, ask them WHAT they mean by a recent service. Is it a recent MAJOR service per Ferrari, an oil change service, a "we washed the car" service, what exactly?

If it was me and the car turns out to look as nice as they claim it is AND there are service records that can at lest roughly support the mileage figures, AND the inspection/PPI was good, I'd probably offer 50 on it and be prepared to pay 54 if I really wanted it. But you might get it for a lot less. Heck, offer 45 pending inspection/PPI. All they can do is say no.

I sold an '89 GTB last spring with fresh service and 24K on it for 56K. I don't think the market has changed much since then. B's are easier to sell since there are very few. If you like the car, offer them 53K and see what happens.
