It is a Bosch part, same as any late 80's BMW 3 series, this is not a joke. The part is the same.

I have heard this off and on for the past three years, but no one has actually gotton back and confirmed this....in fact the last time it was brought up, it was confirmed this was wrong (but maybe they were trying to match up with the wrong series BMW). Please report back if you can confirm this is true, and post the actual part number.

Can someone post a picture? I will ask my 7 series friends which year and body type to confirm/deny the claims. (though I am leaning to E23)

    This look right? (Number 5)

thanks for the pics but both of them are incorrect,
the switch is wider at one end and the connector is a 6 pin in line type

The one on the RIGHT looks very similar to what is in my 1987 328GTS.

I thought our switch panels were rectangular. Heh.

Any ideas which BMW then? I can search for the part in the BMW database.

I concur. I just went down and looked in my '86 and it looks very similar to the illustration on the right (definitely NOT rectangular).

It would make sense if it was a Bosch part, since they were supplying a lot of parts to Ferrari at the time (including the fuel injection!).

It looks like the mirror switch off my Mondial 3.2 (switch #2 in drawing), which was definitely a BMW part as it said 'BMW' on it when I replaced it years ago. I went down to the BMW place with it in my pocket and they matched it for about $30. Works and looks great.
    Easy.

I am having a different problem but in the same area. The motor of my side mirrors adjustment is not working so can it be fixed or need a whole new motor?

How about if you took switch #3 and rotated it 180 degrees? This switch pictured (as is the switch in my 328) IS larger at one end. In this picturem it is larger on the left side...in my car it would be the right, or forward portion. Rotating the switch 180 degrees would make it resemble how it looks in my car. I am still unsure if this is EXACTLY like the one in my car, but certainly looks identical....

I went and looked at my car later after I posted that, and agree.

YES THEY DO LOOK SIMILAR BUT THE CONNECTOER IS THE IMPORTANT BIT, BECAUSE IF THEY ARE DIFFERENT THEN YOU CANT PLUG IN YOUR NEW SWITCH EH?

Mine was supplied by Stratton(Wilmslow) 01625 532678 who were a Ferrari main dealer - don't know if they are still.
I'll give you mine as a straight swop for your 944 S2.......

I was not disagreeing with your point, I was merely affirming my error earlier relating the style of the switch.

PETER JESSON REALLY!!!!!!! (REAL REASON THE S2 IS QUICKER THAN THE 308QV)

THIS SWITCH IS DRIVING ME TO DISTRACTION SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE HAS ONE AND IF WE COULD GET TOGETHER HE COULD BE RICHER.

POINT TAKEN ABOUT THE SIMMILARITY, AND IF I DONT FIND ONE THEN ITS HACKSAW BLADE AND A BMW SWITCH. (ONLY I WILL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE)

WHERE IS THE NEAREST BMW PARTS SHOP?
