348 plugs

Hi I am about to change the plugs on my 348 and am trying to get the best performance plugs for it. What is the best available plugs for the car for performace driving?

 

Use NGK they are the best for any engine. Regards, Vern

 

Preference to Iridium eletrode type, have higher conductivity than copper, it´s mean higher energy spark.

it's a good question that is hard to answer. each engine responds differently based upon how it's running and what octane your using. now in my case i'm an odd duck, supercharged 2V 308 motor. pre boost i ran the bosch platnum plugs with great results after boost the plugs lasted maybe 500 miles, i went thru a number of different ones, iridium, copper etc.. until i went back to the original silvers. the W5 RDS are by far the best plugs i've run under boosted conditions. strange at it may seem the platnum and iridium were the absolute worst ones.

my only complaint now is the cost of these hard to find buggers, a set will run me around $75. so far i've gotten about 3k miles out of them. if your NA i would not recomend the 5 as that's a very cold plug! which makes it so hard to find. the next hardest or theee hardest to get are the W3 a very very chilly cold plug with only a center post. Porsche racing engines used them, average cost is about $20 a piece.

as for indexing the plug, i've heard both sides. some say it's worth the trouble others say it isn't enough to make it worth the trouble. on the ferrari engines it's a bit of work due to the engine sitting transverse.

to answer the question on which plug, what kind of driving are you doing? city, stop and go? highway runs? street track? each ones requires a difference in plug temp and range. here is a decent article http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/spark_plugs_tips/
