I just got a 1997 355 last night and I can't get the key fob alarm button to work. Does anyone know how to disconnect it or over-ride it.

It probably needs a new battery.

Look in the manual how to open the unit and then replace the battery.

The 360 fob has a small philips screw, but I am not familiar with the 355.

Unfortunately, its not the battery. The red light comes on, so I think it's emitting a signal. Do you know where the sensor is?

I would still try on the battery replacement. Could be sending a weak signal. It's worth trying :).

You have to click it (turn the alarm off) when it is literally within inches from the ignition on my car.

You cannot disconnect it as it is part of the FI ECU.
You can override it by cycling the key the appropriate number of times as described in your manual. But you need to have the code for cycling the ignition.
How many fobs do you have? You should have 3, one of which is red. The red one is the "master" so don't lose it!

    Randy,

Did you contact the prir owner to see if there is any additional alarm associated with the car?

    This has to be frustrating.

A23 battery (12v) for fob . Dim red light on key fob equals weak battery
