Hi guys....I'm Raphael and have some questions about buying a 98 355F1 berlinetta. It has 23k miles, 15k and 30k svc done. its black/tan with challenge grill. red calipers, tubi, blk stitching. Also have svc records. 15k done @ foreign cars italia and 30 k done @Sports Auto in Summerfield,NC. F is in Springfield, MO @ Motorcars International. I made deposit about a week ago. I made purchase contingent on passing PPI at Ferrari of San Diego. Somewhat anxiety producing..buying a car I've never seen. Has anyone dealt or know rep of Motorcars intl? They have been very professional and friendly. F is to be transported in covered transport when car detailing is done and balance due is paid probably next week.......any input is greatly appreciated........anything else I should be doing or asking to ensure satisfactory closure...........thanx....raphael

I have only heard good things about Motorcars International, having inquired, but not purchased, of a few cars in their inventory. PPI is a must, and if favorable, I would probably feel comfortable with the transaction.

    Raphael -

Congratulations on the car - sounds like a great combination. Although I've never dealt with them, Motorcars International has a strong reputation on this board, with several members having bought their vehicles through them. Do a search on them, and should find a plethora of information.

A number of 355's have leather shrinkage on the top portion of the dash (where it meets the windshield) and/or around the glovebox area. This is primarily due to two factors: (i) a combination of cheaper leather used by Ferrari, and (ii) the relative heat and humidity that a particular Ferrari has been exposed to.

The more pristine cars either have no leather shrinkage, or have had the leather redone - which is not a cheap fix.

Thanks for the compliments on my car.
