    Is it possible to buy the soleniod separately for the starter as I think its on the blink. The starter has FIAT written on it. Basically its making a fizzing noise every other time I start it. Then it wouldn't turn over just fizz. Taped soleniod with a hammer then has been fine for the next few starts but don't want the agro again.

    Yes. I am not sure of the make of that particular starter, but when rebuilding starters the solenoid is always one of the parts that is replaced. Someone here should be able to chime in with the make

    It's a Magnetti Marelli starter...although I have never tried to source the solenoid.

    Ok thanks guys. I will try and get the original rebuild I think. Looks reasonably easy to get off.
