I have a Canadian 430 imported from the U.S. A while back and I was recently pulled over because I did not have Daytime Running Lights..... I contacted Ferrari of Vancouver, paid for and recieved a short wiring harness with 2 black Plugs and a white plug. I had expected a DRL Module that would plug in, in order to activate Running lights once I started the 430.... I contacted FoV and the fellow who answered in parts told me he really had no idea where to install this harness, but he did say it was just behind the head lights ....I accessed the panels behind the headlights ( in the wheel wells) but I couldn't find any where to plug in the harness....does anyone have any info on where this new harness goes?

Well... As far as I know, head lights come on automatically in Canada as it is required by the law for ages. I do not know the asnwer you have to install the parts but why don't you just turn the lights on when you drive day or night?

I am sure someone here knows how you could do it as most of chat members are so great with their cars and can work on their cars, where an idiot like me can just drive the car. When there's an issue, I post it here and get all the good answers from the members. This chat is far most helpful solution for your issues and members are highly active. Other chat room I participate for other cars, you rarely get any response.

Good luck to find your solution and do not get pulled over again.

    Happy Driving...

I had done that to my US spec car.I took it to ferrari of Montreal and they install it on my 08 f430. As I remember it is short wire and was installed on the left side behind the left headlight. Access to that area from inside the hood.
Actually, it is direct wired now and the light comes on as soon as the car is turned on.The only difference is that without the inside light switch turned on you cannot use high beam.If you want high beam you must switch on head lights.
it takes about 15 mins to do it.

I would have turned on my lights, had I remembered, but once I was pulled over I was issued a summons to report to an RCMP station within 30 days to prove I have DRL's :(
I suspected that the harness needed to go in the area inside the hood on the drives side....I don't think it's is going to be a 15 minute job, as I think in an 08 f430 the panels are different.....and even then i won't be sure as to where this 3 headed harness needs to go....

    Rob,

Read your post and sent you an email which explains how the car is set up.

How was the car certified without that being done?
That conversion is usually the first on the list for the Canadian certification process.

What is the final consensus for activating the DRLs on an F430 for a U.S. car bound for Canada?

It appears it is different than a 360. I've searched and called (both U.S. and Canadian dealers) without finding an answer yet. I've established it is some sort of small plug adapter, but I'm trying to learn specifically where it should be. I have an '06 F430 F1 Coupe this was done to that I'm looking to reverse back to its original U.S. config. I'm fairly confident Ferrari of Alberta performed the work, but it was back in '06.

Behind the driver side panel under the front bonnet, there's a bank of 3 wiring harness plugs just forward of the CD changer, but I don't think it's any of them. Nothing behind the CD changer either.

The low beams are usually on a relay so all you have to do is wire the coil to a switched fuse. I bought a fused connector from Canadian Tire to tie into the switched fuse and made jumpers for the low beam relay because you have to pull it out of its socket. Took me a few minutes on my Maserati Spyder I imported from the US. I don't have fuse and relay diagrams but check your owners manual. The plug adaptor probably does the same thing.

You could just press the parking light button each time you get in the car.

In this case, it's already been done by a dealer somewhere along the way. I'm looking to reverse the procedure as the car is now back in the U.S. There should just be a plug or adapter harness to remove, just not sure where it should be located on the F430.

Just turn ur headlight switch on and leave it on. They will turn on and off with the ignition.

    That's how mine is

Just leave your headlights on. No need to even worry about them staying on when the car is off, they go off with the ignition.

New to forum but if your car has already had the DRL mod made, why would you want to return it to its former state just because the vehicle is being returned to the US? There are no laws in the US making DRL's illegal and in fact they are now required on all new cars and for a reason. DRL's are safer for all concerned!
