I am thinking of buying a scuderia. Has racing seats but not the four point seat belt system (looks like racing belts). Does anyone know if I can install this seat belt system even though the car does not come with it? The AD said only Ferrari can supply this system when it is ordered as a new car. Is that true? Thank you for your help! Happy Easter

I prefer it with the regular seat belt instead of the 4 point harness. To busy and bulky. Useful if you track your car alot to keep you in place. Otherwise the regular belt is much more comfortable.

Yep in the real world you don't want a harness however great the idea seems, unless you are going for 100% track use

The harness is a real pain in the ass. As has been said, unless tracking don't bother, and even then.....

I had them installed in mine because I do track the car. Otherwise they probably aren't worth it. They are ridiculously expensive, if I remember they are about $1100.00 plus installation. They do look great, but you have to flip them out of the way for nornal driving. Here are a couple of pics.

Pick up a set from SCHROTH racing. They cost a fraction of the factory item. To bolt them onto the firewall is easy peasy. Many have done so without any real issues. Else, contact HARDBARUSA.com for a harness bar which fits on without major drilling. Good luck.

A Scud is still a Scud with or without the four point harness. Scuds are just amazing beasts.

If you are planning on tracking the car, I would strongly suggest a 5 or 6 point harness to prevent "submarining" in a 4 point harness. You would need a race seat with a center slot for the 5th or 6th point. But this is proven safety on track.
    Agree on Schroth harnesses.

If you are mainly streeting the car, 4 point may be fine. It is pretty easy to get in and out of....even a 5 point is. I daily drove my track Elise with a 5 point harness and it was fine (and very fun!)

I find myself wondering why only the driver's side has the seatbelt loop instead of the 4-pt harness. Mine actually came with them, in black, but I haven't felt inclined to install it...also, the stealership told me it would be an $900+ installation, in case you were curious on installation cost.

Tracked the car once, the race seats kept me where I needed to be just fine...I'm guessing if I made contact with the wall, or another car or anything like that, the 4-pt belts will hold me down better. I'd like to think that's the 1% use case vs the 99%...don't think I'll ever get around installing the 4-pt, maybe a 5-pt would make more sense/worth the leap.

Someone want to try to brainwash me into it?

For all your replies! As I do not plan to go on the track much at all (perhaps once in my life I should try it) I think I will abolish the idea of the 4 seat belts system. Seems to be more of a pain than anything else. Thank you for your help folks. That is why F-Chat is so useful. It helps members make decisions which make sense. Have a great week, E
