The GTO special is one we built for myself a few years back. It's on a 365GT4 chassis shortened to 2.4m. The engine is mildly tweaked and dry sumped (revs clean to 8000), then lowered 4in & moved back 8in. It tops out at about 195mph and is surprisingly stable at that speed.

In the next couple of weeks the engine will be coming out and we'll be dropping in a 575 unit & transaxle. It will be tight but should just fit. The inlet manifold will be junked and 12 throttle bodies & trumpets fitted. It will need a 330GTO style bonnet bulge or maybe we'll fit a 250 Testarossa style perspex bubble. Another slight advantage is that the first 5 gears are a lower overall ratio than the 365 box which will be better for the circuit. I suspect the new powertrain may be lighter too. The old 365 steel gearbox and diff weigh a ton.
I'll post you some GTO pictures shortly

How do you plan to set up the ignition ? The whole concept sounds interesting.

We can't get anywhere near 1800lb. I think it will be 1150kg = 2535lb. But hoping for a bit more than 550hp. The engine will be standard internals with a good exhaust and straight inlet ports and trumpets. It will probably be 3 months before it's on the Dyno.
I've just been offered another 575 engine and a little demon is suggesting
getting it and eventually doing a full race version. The cam timing looks amazingly mild on the standard engine.
It seems to be calling itself a 575 GTO.

That 575 engine looks right at home in there. Thanks for sharing your pictures and story on this project.
I think I've seen this yellow GTO replica for sale some years ago with Marcel Roks in Belgium. Is this the same car? Do you have the s/n? Thanks.

    Best regards, Peter

Yes, Marcel had it advertised for me a while back before I got all enthusastic about fitting the big engine.
S/n is 23457 which is a 400GT number. The splined hubs & suspension with the solid bushes came off a 365GT4 I had at the time which then took the bolt-on hubs & rubber bush suspension from the 400. Later we lightened the suspension quite considerably. I seem to remember we lost about 32kg over all 4 corners.

It's on Michelin XWXs but I think they're too hard compound expecially with the relatively low chassis weight and I'm thinking of Avon ZZRs (sort of stickier old school) for the road.
We've been using Dunlop M racing tyres on cast wheels for the track, but for the future it will depend on what series will let it race and what the tyre rules are.

um, if you don't want the 575 engine I might have a home for it... any idea the weight of the 550 and 575 engines? With the M70 V12 we are at 2250lbs

    Beautiful project btw :)

    Just weighed the 575 engine:
With lighter alternator, no a/c pump, 400GT (iron) p/s pump, no exhaust manifolds, jenvey throttle bodies, no clutch = 215kg
Standard exhaust manifolds = 38kg, Fabricated extractor manifolds = 18kg (rather shocked by this - could be made lighter)

Wow. Really set back in that chassis.
Looks like cambelts, so it's probably a Maranello motor. Haltech injection? Looks nice, really like the airbox.
