I have a 2010 HGTE F1, just acquired. When I first picked up the car I slowly pulled away and it stalled. I restarted and was fine. Second time maybe a week later I started on a decline and then slowly rolled down and it stalled again. I talked to the dealer they said it's normal. Car had been sitting maybe 1.5 years, but I had been driving it a lot between the first and second instance. Fresh gas was put in after I picked up. Any ideas?
Certainly not something that ever occurred with my 2009 HGTE. Usual next step would be to adjust the PIS (point of initial slip) on the clutch. This might make for a smoother take up of the clutch and hence reduce the propensity for stalling. flash32 is the resident F1 guru.
My 2008 did the same a few times in reverse. It ended up being fixed by a small adjustment by the technician. Can’t remember what was adjusted but probably PIS.
If my dealer told me something like that, I would have asked for a VERY detailed explanation. No, that's not "normal" and it should not be considered acceptable.
I let someone drive my ‘09 who had never driven an F1 trans. To get over a speed bump they were feathering the throttle. Stalled engine. I don’t think going slow in these cars is a problem it’s just not ok to feather throttle as the F1 does not like that and does not know what the driver is trying to do.
You shouldn't be able to stall a properly adjusted F1 system unless you tried very hard ..e.g quickly oscillating the gas .. I would probably have someone check the whole F1 system including maybe a bleed and look in hell housing since been sitting for a while The PIS may be too tight...if it is you most likely would see more issues as the car got warmer and even more going into reverse Bleed the clutch line , doing a clutch solenoid relearn may all you may need As part of the checks (def on firmware) check clutch wear index as well ...that will also tell you directionally if the clutch was set up correctly
