Is the 787 safe to fly? are the battery issues totally resolved? are there any reports of bugs forcing pilots to turn engines off and then on again true? thanks.

It's an AWESOME plane. Fly it.

I've done several long trips on it. 15 hours LA to Melbourne was my last.

Boeing's biggest problem is they are behind schedule making them.

same battery's in your cell phone and lap top ....do you use those ???

I'm sure I will be corrected here but I think the Li battery's are only used on the ground ???

Either way its a Boeing product and for all its initial problems and delay's... I would fly it in a heart beat...its just not used on the routes I usually fly.. I need Virgin, New Zealand, or American to start flying it direct to London....

With all its technology the "pilot" still is in control of the plane....not a french computer..good enough for me

Every single airplane that "pushes the envelope" has had growing pains. The B-52 had plenty, the B-47 had quite a few, the KC-135 had some really troublesome glitches, the 707 was harassed by system surprises and some aerodynamic surprises, 727, 737 had a truck load, the 747 was Queen of the Skies and also the Witch of the West with a steady stream of horrendous difficulties, the 757 & 767 both had LE slat collapses and a few other things, the 777 was better and had fewer clinkers than the others. The 787 was a leap ahead in many things and there is always things that surface after the entire integration is powered up. There are some other things that affected the program from the beginning that continue to plague the airplane but I should probably keep my mouth shut since they aren't hardware. The 787 is the product of good Boeing engineering and they back it up. I wouldn't hesitate to fly in one and I hope to so some day. It's not on my bucket list because I don't have a bucket list, that's for old folks.

I think its the same with everything...... the POS Manchester ....Became the Lancaster....arguably the greatest 4 piston engine bomber ever built

I marvel at how we have progressed.... Just yesterday I was on the deck of the USS Midway in San Diego...looking at jets that had 20,000 lbs thrust and I think about the latest 777 that has 115,000lbs per engine....

I cant wait to fly on a Dreamliner....

Quite a few sitting on the ramp, that may never be delivered. They are early build airplanes that are sitting due to cost/time to fix structural and other issues common to airplanes built prior to completion of certification.
