I'd kill to know what the reserve price is. The guy is obviously proud of it, I wonder why he'd sell it? Maybe he needs to buy a case of Old Milwaukee for his new years bash.

pfft... only an idiot would buy that. porsches arn't really the type of car that i would expect to see a replica of. plus you can find a great 80s porsche for under 30, some as low as 10.

thats an 81 with a buy it now price of about $11,000.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10156&item=4513582639&rd=1
and heres a 91 with a buy it now price of about $25,000.
so really it would be pointless to get a replica porsche when you could get a real one and have a lot more fun.

You can get real Porsche 356s for the 20k-30k as well, hasn't stopped the gigantic kit car market that exists for them.

interesting, but i still wouldn't buy a kit, i just think for the price an older real one would be better, it would be like a replica ferrari 360 costing $155,000, when you could buy a real one for slightly more or less.

Agreed, a kit of a 911 doesn't make much sense.

I still don't have a clear idea what that guy is flogging on the Evil Scam Exchange (otherwise known as Ebay). Is that a 914 replica kit ? Because that's what it looks like. Why state that it looks like a 911 or 928, these look nothing like that !

If it's a replica of a 914, what car did he use as the base ? What engine ?

It's a crappy replica as 914 ripoffs go, the lines in the rear are totally wrong. The attached pic is how it's supposed to look like.

I can understand making a 914 replica, because it's a fairly uncommon car unlike the 911. But if I was going to do such a thing, I'd want the bodywork to be very faithful to the original. But the engine...well, I'd drop in the entire turbo-ed Boxer engine and drivetrain from a 2.5 liter STi and make that thing go like stink ! ;) Only problem is where would the (considerably sized) intercooler go ? Or should I sacrifice the look of the front to put an FMIC there ?

EDIT : couldn't attach the pics, but you can see one at : http://www.theautobahn.com/forum/f6_attachment_.php?&attachmentid=490&twidth=1024

What's to understand? It's a poorly executed, poorly thought out, poorly maintained piece of ****. There's no mystery, It's a piece of trash the poor slob is trying to unload.

Bidding's only a little over a thousand bucks! This little gem may well be the buy of the year.. I would bid, but I would be worried sick that the transport company wouldn't take proper care.

It's not a replica of anything. It is a 914 with a front air dam, rear spoiler, fender flares and extensions on the roof pillars. The stock car looks much better.

That's much clearer, thanks. It looks so crappy that I never suspected it was a real 914 to begin with.

    retarded.

i'd rather have a good 914 rather than a base-level 911 or 924/928/944. of course the 914 still ain't as purdy as the contemporary bertone design.

other than that i think he's taking the piss.

This guy may have set a record for lying on ebay. "Interior could use some work but it's clean". Jeez, it looks like rats have been living in it.

"Slight crack" was pretty good too.
