Just got the 1st spot order for a GT3. Oredering info not out yet and US delivery not expected until May 06' From what Ive been reading up on, this promises to be an excellent track car and weekend fun toy. Even better than the outgoing 996 GT Any impressions from current Gt3 owners?
I hear the ride is very stiff, Great for track but a little jarring for the road. Maybe the new one will have some type of adjustable suspension. I love the gt3 look, very cool.
Nice. Congrats. Have you seen the spy shots of the new GT3? looking great if they're real. I envy you, GT3 is my realistic dream car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations! I'm expecting a lot from the 997GT3 and may do something about it myself. When you get your order sheet, please post it here and let us know what the options are.
couldnt agree more, darth vaders car is defenetly a maybach excellero! they look so evil! New GT3 should be awesome, i've been in a mk2 996 and it was brilliant, porsche has to trump it & make a better car
Sure thing! As soon as they release it to me, Ill fill you guys in. Color, seats, int material, wheeels, ect....
I went around the Shanghai F1 track in the current GT3 (race spec). If the new one is better, "wow" is the only word that comes to mind. Good luck with it.
I've been told to expect initial deliveries in September.. ~3 months after the first Turbo deliveries.
gt3 is fantastic - raw, visceral, engaging, just a joy to drive. sliding around turns has never been more fun i'm first on my dealer's list as well for the 997 gt3, but if the 997/997 S are any indication of the types of "improvements" that are in store for the 997 gt3 - i'll pass. i've always been a feel type person when it comes to cars i like so faster does not necessarily mean "better", imo. and fwiw, i've been told around september as well. not sure how you can *absolutely* say the 997 is a better drivers car than the 996 (don't even know what your definition of drivers car is)... when people do have different tastes. but regardless, in driving the 997S, it felt more disconnected, softer and overall more GT like than the 996. simple as that for me, at least.
Different strokes I suppose. I felt the exact opposite when comparing a 996 and 997. I felt the made the 997 a lot edgier than the 996, a lot less of a GT are usually my exact words to freinds. Obviously, GT3 excluded.
I'm also number 1 in my dealer's list for the 997 GT3. I can't wait for it to be released and in my hands. In my opinion, the 997 is an improvment over the 996 is alot of ways, not just looks. I drove a couple, one on the street and another on the track and I was very impressed by it's capabilities in both venues. I'm currently on my third 996, a turbo S, but I still think that the 997 platform is better. The only thing that I prefer from the 996, IMHO again, is the sportier dashboard, but that's it, I think. A friend of mine, on a visit to the factory, was shown a prototype 997 GT3, and he was highly impressed by what he saw.
Here's some more photos of the 997 GT3... http://www.germancarfans.com/spyphotos.cfm/spyphotoid/6051223.001 I went down today and got on the list...
