Work Hard, get as much education as you can - college, training, etc, Work Hard, Save, Invest, Buy a house and all the other important things, Work Hard... Then get your F-car...

A lot of us on this board start with the more "Affordable" F-cars, Some of the Vintage 250 and 330 2+2, or the 412's, 308 or 328 (most popular first f-car) -which can be had a very good price (30 - 50K)... Some start with P-cars or others... We take good care of them, get to know other F-car people... and then the addiction sets in hard - we then continue to add to it by getting another one, or upgrading to a newer model... or spend extra money on new exhausts or redoing the leather, etc.

Oh yeah - and search the forums - as LA mentions :)

There's three ways to make money in this world:

Marry it; inheret it; steal it.

You'll find a lot of the answers to your questions not only by searching through the archives, but by simply 'hanging around' or lurking and reading the threads and looking at the types of questions that other people are asking and reading the replies.

As far as "what do you do for a living", well, that question comes up on a regular basis and you probably won't get much of a response until you've been around a bit longer and get to 'know' some of the folks here. In some ways, that's just a slightly more polite way of asking, "how much money do you make" or "are you rich"? If you wouldn't ask a question to someone you don't know in a face-to-face setting, you shouldn't ask it here. However, if you simply come back and visit for a while, you'll learn a lot not only about the marque, but also about those here who are caretakers of these vehicles. Many contributors to F-chat choose to remain anonymous for personal and privacy reasons, while others are quite open with some of their personal details.

Even though I've been around for a while, I still have well under 50 posts, and that's mostly because I lurked for quite a long time before I even registered. Even now, it's very rare for me to come up with a question that hasn't been asked before and answered somewhere in the archives. I spend far more time searching the archives and just simply reading the threads - and not just the general discussion, but also the technical and vintage forums as well. I also realize that as a non-owner, most people here would rather hear from owners and their experiences rather than from people like me who haven't been able to 'join the club' yet for various reasons. It's important to make sure you search the archives before asking a question that's been asked many times before, like "what's the deal with the valve guides on the 355 ?", or "what's a good price for a (pick your favorite model)" etc.

This is a fine, fine community, and many of its members are more than happy to go *way* out of their way to assist others, but my best advice is simply to log in every day and start reading. Glad to have you on board. Welcome to F-chat.
