OK gents, does anyone use their AC on a regular basis. I have always had a weird thing about not using my AC on sports cars. I was just seeing how you all feel about using it in your 348 or F355...

When it is hot, I use it. I am not a martyr.

    Me too. :D:D

Use it when I need to and even in the winter months I still turn it on every now and then till it gets cold just to keep the system operating.

They reckon the a/c system should be used for 5 mins at least once a week in ANY season of the year. Keeps seals lubricated etc.etc.

Not to mention that the a/c system helps with the defrost. ;)

Yeah, mine is almost never off (hint I live in Texas where winter time temps are 60dF and summer temps are as high as 113dF.)

Mine does get turned off when I'm at the race track.

Kyle - I use mine regularly here on the California coast. It doesn't seem to be much of a hp drain on the engine and, actually, one should run it regularly to keep the seals from drying out, which can lead to a loss of refrigerant.

Thanks to all of you for the insights and info. I guess I will stop being a baby and use it as designed.

It weighs over 30lbs (1% of car weight) and sucks power. It's in a plastic container in the basement. I like it there. I should wrap it in the floor mats, but I'm saving the carpeting for the next owner.

I turn mine on once a year to see if it still works, and it always blows ice cold.
That's how much I use mine, I take the roof off, windows down, and i'm good... even in the Vegas heat!

If it is above 60F outside mine is on. I see no reason to "ration" it. It's cheap compared to the overall cost of the car and I like being comfortable when I am enjoying the car.

mine doesn't work. Previous owner and I tried to recharge, but it quickly evaporates...so rather than tear into the bonnet to replace, I roll the windows down.

I use it in my 348. It works very well when outside temps are about 92 or less. Above that, it struggles to keep me cold -- but it does keep it from being sweltering hot.

My rear windows are tinted heavily. That really helps with heat gain. The AC never sweats to keep up - when it's working, that is. Tempermental PO Italian S!!!
