So, this 1965 "project" Alfa 2600 coupe showed up on Craigslist.

Worth buying? Market value? Parts availability?

    It looks interesting.

A fellow club member owns both a Touring-bodied and a Zagato-bodied 2600. He's in the midst of wrapping up the resto of the Touring car (should be finished this year) and will start the Zagato afterwards.

From the photos I've seen and his accounts of the restoration, these cars are difficult to restore. Mechanical parts are avaliable, but body parts will need to be fabricated (that has taken him the longest, finding a good body-man locally, skilled in the old-school traditions of metal shaping). The chassis has many rust traps and intricate structures that take lots of time to fabricate. This Craigslist car should also have all of it's trim pieces, otherwise you'll need to source out missing items from parts-cars (not easy).

Typical, classic Italian car restoration issues.

I suggest you go to the Alfa Bulletin Board for more specific info. They may be discussing this very same car right now!

That one has been on ebay twice. I think it is pretty rough.

If I remember, Shadetree may have a 2600 project car as well. I know they had a VERY nice customer 2600 when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

Robert at Shadetree could probably give you a good idea of parts availability, or as suggested check with AlfaBB.

Still on craigslist. Maybe after listing it several places, several times, it finally went.
