    I'm supposed to go look at a Giallo/black 75 model GT4 that was rotisserie restored in Italy about 8 years ago.

    It has been in a hangar mostly idle since then. I suspect, like many of this man's toys, that it will need a service recommissioning, yet I've been told the car was truly magnificent when parked.

    What is the 'range' of a good #2 condition GT4 these days? I'm not in that market, don't follow it.

    Side note: His has the rear seat delete, and a 'semi knowledgeable' Ferrari friend said this GT4 was an alloy model? Is this even possible?

    Any input would be great.

    Not from the factory and it's certainly doubtful anyone else afterwards would have made an aluminum body for it.

    The only aluminum panels on the car would be (for a Sr. II car) would be the front lid and engine lid (plus the belly pans underneath the car).

    Hi Adams,
    You have good taste! The GT4 is a great-great car! You notice being ever so slightly cab forward, and the gear lever is a bit shorter than the QV which I prefer. It feels less refined (And that's a GOOD thing :) ) Supposedly early early GT4's like 1974 / the first 3 cars ? used more fiberglass in the bodies. I guess like the early GTB's. But - like so much you read, who knows what's accurate and correct. As for aluminum bodies------I never heard of it. I know with a fair degree of certainty that all of the top moving panels are aluminum, the floor is gel-glas (I think epoxy matrix as opposed to polyester resin, but again not certain), the lower front valance is fiberglass (Good old polyester resin with cloth matt), and bumpers are rubber covered concrete - just kidding, but if you ever pick up a USA 308 bumper, you'll appreciate the humor.

    Overall, the GT4 performs really well, has a terrific feel, and is pretty comfortable. Cockpit noise at 100 is not like a BMW, more drama with wonderful mechanical sounds!

    As for market $ - I'd check out the FML, or ebay to see what's out there.

    Close friend here just buying one, with excellent provenance, #2 condition, not a museum piece, but a driven car - sub $40K.

    Selfishly, would you photograph the seat-delete and share the images here? (I presume that means the package tray is present). I'm looking to learn details of trim and straps, finish, and overall appearance, as I expect to be restoring one in the near future.

    BTW, LOVE the Motovanti!

    Man, great input folks and much appreciated. Yeah, seems like only the front and rear lids are truly alloy, but I'll go with a magnet lest I have found the only one ever made, and plan to retire soon thereafter.

    The guy believes it to be worth $45k (partly since he spent $40k on the resto work) but the thing hasn't run in a while. May be another case of dreaming that his car and recent sales must somehow be connected.

    Happy to snap shots of the seat area. I bet some other folks here have some better ones currently available, yet happy to share what I'm able to get in a dark hanger with an Iphone!

    Zoooomz, so glad you like your Motovanti! I pretend I can hear the difference in my car every time I run through the gears. (It actually does change the intake note.)

    If its all there and won't need restored..overpay. People get WAY TOO stuck on prices and forget all the 'after sales' expense that goes into any old car. If this car has been restored and sorted pay the premium.

    I agree. I've spent nearly $13k getting a very low mile 328 back to pristine sorted condition. Spent $11k on a similarly nice but neglected 911 3.2 wide body. It just takes dough to get these cars back to a reliable usage state, then not too terrible if used regularly.

    This GT4 has been sitting, but I look forward to making the assessment. Have had a couple inquiries that if I don't want it, others might. I'm out of project mode for the time being.

    i would at least look at all the rubber belts and hoses. run it with the existing gaskets for a bit and see what's good and what needs to be changed.

    On my series 1 '75 GT4 all three were aluminum skinned: Trunk, engine lid and front lid. On a friend's '79 GT4 one of his is steel skinned but I don't remember which one. But otherwise they are all steel bodied.

    The rear seat delete is a very cool option. I'd pay a little extra for that if it is factory originally installed.

    $45k would make it a very expensive GT4, but if it is in nice condition you know it is cheaper than buying a ratty one and dumping money for paint and interior into it. I hope it is in nice shape and I hope that price turns out to be market correct!

    On my car which I assume all are the same bonnet engine and trunk all aluminum. I think these cars have more potential than the regular 308 considering their current low prices
