If you had an Annual Service carried out By Ferrari Dealership what would you expect to be carried out as a normal operation??? 1.Change Engine Oil / Filters 2. Check Brake Wear, Pads/Rotors etc 3. Steering correct operation 4. Tyre Wear 5. Clutch Wear etc. 6. Wheel Nuts 7. Seat belt operation Comment greatfully appreciated .
MMMMM Guys I had an Annual Service done ...yes but had to pay extra for checking the : 1. Front lower bushes which are prone on the Strad as I know of 3 cars same age that had to be changed. (THIS WOULD BE WARRANTY) 2. Checking wear on rear brake pads.( DUE TO TRACK TIME I WAS TOLD) I thought this would be standard checking on an Annual Service ?? I also asked to check the Gear change as I felt it was a tad jumpy in normal mode, this was reported to be fine. So an extra £52.50 for Checking brakes and £52.50 for checking gear change. I also arranged for delivery and collection of the car so the dealer had no cost there. I must say tho that the job was done and car ready on time with a good Valet too!! But i feel a little disappointed that they charged for two items im being told which should of been checked anyway. Whats your thought guys???
Joe what does it take to check the brakes...take off wheels and have a look = £52.50 To check gear change take it out for a spin " No thats fine Sir" = £52.50 Sounds a liberty to me too Joe
Hmmmm! I've also just had an "interesting experience" with Dealership. I will be going elsewhere next year....most probably to a trusted professional in Germany who I know does not rip me off or allow 18 year olds to work on F-cars. Cheers, MARK
I know I'm a tight Scotsman, but I'd not have paid for that, I'd have said "Call Ferrari UK for me please!! I want to complain" that should have done it, was it Maranello's? You can tell us as it was FACT and not an opinio which may lead to slander, aw bugger it who cares, just tell us!! Paul CUE99T
I think the charge to check the brakes is what upsets me the most. Them being a rather 'important' part of the car. Apart from that I gather Ferrari dont actually know how long they will last. They have estimates, but they wont know until they have have compiled enough real information from their customers.
Is'nt there a schedule of what is done in the owners manual? Surely from a safety aspect, all brakes should be checked at any service interval. Besides, how else will they know to "recommend" a change.
There is a schedule in the book, but for cars of this performance and price I would be expecting the value add (and that doesn't mean cleaning the thing - end of the day I'd rather pay to have that done myself and have them spend the extra time on the bits a cleaner cannot do). So to my way of thinking, they should do all the stuff mentioned above, but also have a good eyeball at pretty much everything else. Take the car out and use their experience to decide whether the car's running OK. How long does it take them to check things like the fuel and hydraulics lines? To check all the electrical bits and bobs are working nicely. To take it out for a quick shakedown. To check the plugs. To check all fluid levels. To check all your bushes and gaitors etc. Even to stick it on the SD2 and their alignment gizmos. You've not long ago spent upwards of 110k on a car (probably a good chunk more), and are probably spending the thick end of 1k on an annual. Why can't this lot be done? But then it's best not to get me started on the main dealer network. If the cars they're selling weren't so bloody great, they'd be out of business. Which is partly the problem.
Well im no Muppet!!! And im also a Businessman too!! So to charge 550.00 labour which is I belive 5 hrs to change the Oil and filter ( not forgeting to put the new copper washer on the sump plug) what else was checked if i paid extra to check the brakes?? Not to mention the 24 mile road test I suppose to ensure those brakes actually worked and the gears changed properly ( without the jump). All in all the longer I think about it the more I feel that the piss was taken, saying that all the People I met were very nice indeed and are only doing what they are told from those steering the Big Ship. However I only get caught once and that may of been it!!! I dont feel the need to say WHO WHERE etc as im sure you already know the Company ...
Have you raised these points with them? They sound like they are ok so tell them the problem and see if they will give you some gesture of goodwill at the next service. If I was a dealer I would try 110% to make sure a customer with a 360CS and a 456 was happy with the service I was providing.
Hope you don't think I was implying that The dealers have you over a barrel - you're all but obliged to use them to keep your warranty valid, and there aren't exactly a shed load of approveed dealers around, even in the South East. So you're buggered. Vote with your feet definitely, but you *must* also let them know this in no uncertain terms. The next bummer you have to contend with is that even paying that sort of wedge, the quality is by no means guaranteed. BTW, my mum's lovely. Sweetness and light. But I wouldn't get her to change the oil on my car! Smiles and jocularity are easy when you've just vaselined someone. Or am I just cynical?
Joe i'd be nice to anyone for £110 an hour, but come on Joe just bend over and take your punishment what do you expect from Ferrari main dealers they are loosing money poor things!
joe they should not charge you for checking for warrenty faults that are known to the model of car and for the brake issue checking for wear due to track time thats 8ollocks
2. Checking wear on rear brake pads.( DUE TO TRACK TIME I WAS TOLD) £52.50 extra? Thats disgusting. Any annual service should include checking all the pads, disks, lines and fluid condition - regardless of the use the car has had. It's a safety issue. Why just the rears?
I wouldn't mind betting that if you hadn't specifically asked them to do those 'extra' items, they would have just done them anyway. How else are they going to get more business, other than look for it when cars come in?
Exactly, my original Question!!! What would you expect them to check on an Annual Service?? I suppose if something is hanging off ie the gearbox I imagine they may call, however if all seems fine Im under the impression that all that is done is to change the Oil and Filters. Im sending a detailed Letter to .................Service Ltd to enquire if the checks were correctly chargeable. The thing is I carnt for the life of me understand why they need to do it?? Interesting to see if Kens car comes back without any hidden charges..
can you not check with another dealer or the importer whats covered on the service, is it not in the book whats checked on that service?
And charging you extra because you've done track time is a little rich when the CS is essentially a road legal track car. Doesn't Challenge Stradale mean "Road going racer" or something like that? Seems a bit off when they penalise you for using it for the exact purpose for which it was built!
Im checking that as we speak Steve, I carnt seem to find this in the CS Service Manual....... What the guy said was that on track the CS uses the ASR to lock the rear wheels and if this continually occurs the pads get a bashing....Im only aware of my ASR becoming active on a few occasions. Go figure they are the experts .............
