Any news on NBC Sports plan for F1 coverage?

Same here. I called and they said they"re working on it. Already set for both practices. I'll check on quali tomorrow.

 

Directv guide indicates NBCS channel 220:

Thursday, March 14, @ 11pm cst - Australian GP first practice
Friday, March 15, @ 12:30am cst - Australian GP second practice

 

Appears there is a pre and post race program scheduled as well.

 

My "Season Pass" is all set up on my TiVo. Looks like I will get P1, P2, qualifying, pre race, race, and post race. (No P3, but what the heck... Quali is only a couple of hours later.)

I had to go to the actual channel listings to get the right names for the pre and post race shows, as they are listed separately from the races.

Now, as to the quality of the broadcasts themselves, we shall see. But I believe I have said it before, I am keeping an open mind and will give them an un-prejudiced look.

I am expecting nothing more than crappy coverage.

 

I have Uverse.. and did a search on the system, by searching for Formula One... and it came up on NBCSports... so the DVR is all set for Practice Quali and race for the season... fingers crossed!

BTW in Atlanta on March 20 we ( local FCA chapter) are having Bob Varsha give a talk about F-1 and the whole Speed vs. NBC thing... if you are able to come on down... you'r einvited... $30 per person...proceeds to charity ...as part of the 599 relay event.

 

Can't make the event, but hope you can do a recap for us....

 

Damn, some of you guys are just eternal pessimists!

I have high hopes;

- I like Diffey and the rest of the team remains the same - No problems there.
- It's looking like they'll air everything live.
- They (apparently) did outbid Speed for it, so they're putting money where their mouth is.

Why do you think the coverage will be crap? Should be at least as good as Speed, which isn't Sky, but we know the reasons for that.......

Yes. Looks like 1st practice is not live, but the second one is. Is that what you see under info in the guide menu?

 

First pre season show airs tonight at 9PM Eastern.

 

Luxury, I used to have to get out of the lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of gravel, work twenty hour day at mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would thrash us to sleep with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!..

My head is still ~week away - Would have completely missed it without yer post. Thanks man!.....

It also seems that there's a new episode of "Mobil One" immediately after.

I suspect the naysayers will be along momentarily;

- 30 minutes sucks!
- Mobil One show sucks!
- Presenters all suck!
- It'll detract from the broadcast time!
- Not as good as Sky!
- Blah, blah!



At least we have a pre-race show. Who knows, it may even be "OK"! 6pm here on the left coast of course.

If you had missed it there seems to be numerous reruns.
This should be a good indicator of how they intend to handle F1.
I live in hope.

 

I'll don my Shumi Jamies, pour a big glass of some bourbon, and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.....

 

One good sign may be if this team has matching blazers.
