I am in the market for a ferrari (preferably a 360 with a stick). My only concern is service. I live in Georgetown and currently have a couple of BMWs (including an Alpina Z8 I would like to sell). I want to know, what is the story with service in the Austin area? For warranty work, do you have to go to Houston, SA, or Dallas? For non-warranty work, what are the choices and your experiences? Thanks so much.

Michael Luongo at Lamborghini Dallas is a very experienced Ferrari mechanic.
I've cultivated a good relationship with him.
If you're looking for an earlier model 360 6 speed be sure to check if the clutch assembly has been updated, there have been problems with them. (throw out bearings) Of course a good and thorough PPI will cover these issues.
    Good luck with your purchase.

Moorespeed does great work, and has a factory SD2 diagnostic comouter for the 360.

Also, if you buy your car from the San Antonio dealer, they will pick up & deliver your car for service work for free. And they just added a new senior Ferrari tech, who used to work at Ferrari of Denver.

I use Moorespeed in Austin and Ferrari of Houston. I've had great experiences at both places. I guess Texas is one of the only states with three authorized dealers. I'm not sure how many are in Cali. So you are only a few hours away from three dealers here plus you've got a local guy with Dave. It doesn't get much better than that.

I appreciate it (can you hear my exhale). I was really concerned about this, but the fact that there were no negative posts is amazing. Thanks again for all of your replies.

Actually, a problem you should look for in 99-00 models is replacement of the cam variator belts - even though there was a TSB issued for this problem, many people had already done their timing belt replacement by the time the TSB was communicated in N.A. I think the window for the having the replacement paid for by Ferrari has already closed so it would be an out of pocket expense.

You can find more info by searching the archives using "360 cam variator".

    Good luck!

If you're still interested, Ferrari of San Antonio actually has a '00 360 Coupe with a stick and just under 10k miles (yeah, it was appreciated.) It's found a home on their showroom floor, and I do believe its on their website. Price? Last known was $139k.

    1-800-234-3466, if it helps. :)

For service I can’t recommend anyone in Dallas better than Nowood’s.

Thanks. I was actually going down the SA last Saturday for a test drive but the dealer said it was about to rain and they would not let it out (can't blame them). I will drive it soon. But, thanks again.

Sure. They are a sponsor of Fchat BTW. Many people in Dallas service their cars there. I had mine checked out there prior to my purchase too. PM me or post, if you have any questions. Welcome to F Chat.

Thanks Nick R. I don't suppose your new F car is a 360 or 550 is it? If so, give details. Thanks.

But, brings me to another question? What is your experience with the 355? How does it compare to the 360 (bang for buck)? Thanks.

I must admit was going to sell my 355. I was thinking of trading up to the 550 or the 360, but after driving them I am staying with the 355.

I just did not like how the 550 felt. Yes its fast, solid, but it felt like I was driving a large sedan. The 360 was nice, felt nimble like the 355 but a whole lot nicer than my 355, well not really.

I even asked my son who was with me and he like the 355 better. Granted the 360 I tried was a hard top.
