Just out of curiosity, are there any books banned in the USA at present? Do they do that any more?
There have never been books officially "banned" in the USA to my knowledge; unless you consider the possession of books/magazines with child porn being illegal a "ban" ? Churches and other groups have tauted about books that they claim needed to be banned, but nothing has been banned that I know of, and should not be either.
I had a copy of that in college that I used for research when writing a paper in a Philosophy of Violence class I took. It has some neat things in it that I tried out...like how you can make a silencer out of a two liter plastic coke bottle...it does work.
I had that book, I left it in the guest bathroom for good reading for my guests. My favorite was when my in-laws came into town for the first time. Ohh the memories!
I saw that movie at a friends house, very weird. Do you know the car they were driving at th beginning, I cant remember.
A co-worker was telling me that internet purchase or "search" is a guaranteed flag with the FBI's snoop software. I don't know if he was feeding me a line of bull, but I wouldn't entirely dismiss that fact. Though, I've seen this book readily available at gun shows.
I have a good friend who was in the Marines. He claims that during his top secret clearance background check he was asked why he purchased the book years earlier!
Not entirely true. It depends on where you live in the good old US of A. As my GF is in Grad School for Library Science (yes your Librarian usually has a Masters Deg) there are many School districts / areas that do ban books. Local schools can challanged/ ban books. Most books are banned under a couple categories sexual explicit content, religion, racism and theres a couple more but I cant find my list. Im currently a sophmore in high school and studying this in literature. 6,364 books were challanged in 2004 which may be the same book but more then one school has challanged it
Funny you should bring this up because one of my senior year elective english classes is Censorship in Literature. Tonight I have to finish up Harry Potter and we start Requiem for a Dream on Thursday. I wish i could tell you more, but we just started and havent really gotten into it just yet. Other books we are planning to read are Trainspotting, Fight Club, Zero Below, Clockwork Orange, and as i said above Requim for a dream.

Maybe you should read it again... I think you might be missing something. It's not a Tom Clancy novel, you have to read between the lines.
I read the book when it first came out - but damned if I can remember what sort of car Alex and the boys motored about in. The film used a Morris Minor, and I recall the odd flash of disappointment when it came across the screen, but beyond that its a blank. Sorry.
