Would love to upgrade to 17 inch wheels to enable me to get wider/sticker rubber. Anyone know a source for these Modena Autrostrada wheels?

 

I did not think that 348 heads were compatible with a 308 block???????

A few questions:
- Did you have to modify the wheel wells to get the tires to fit?
- What is the handling balance like with those tire widths?
- Is it really lowered 3 inches?
- What dB is it with the muffler bypass open?
- Are you still using a cable clutch?
- Are you bringing it to Concorso Italiano??? (hope, hope)

With 418 lb-ft the thing must go like stink.

 

Sorry for the late reply. I forget to subscribe to my own posts.

1. The wheels wells are stock. The tires will rub on full lock up front, and the rears rub the removeable inner fenders when it's on the lift (but not when it's on the ground).

2. It handles very well. Being so low got rid of most of the body roll.

3. Someone get me a fender to ground measurement and I'll verify that.

4. Hmm, I don't know. How far away from the exhaust tip should I measure that? The turbo does some muffling so it's not as loud as straight pipes on a normally aspirated 308.

5. Yes, for now. I plan to upgrade to an OS Giken Twin Disk soon

6. No, sorry.

It's fast. The photographer has ridden in several newer Ferraris and he says it's really strange being in an old 308 that will run with a 458.

I'm very happy to report that I now have the Superformance upgraded rear brakes in place. The brakes are almost perfectly balanced now (Girodisc in front). I still need to work out a vacuum reservoir and possibly a vacuum pump because the brake assist is inconsistent.

I like it ! But how about the driveshafts/axles ? As I understood stock stuff already struggles with modern sticky-tyres ? (Though I never had problems with hihg performance tyres and the whopping 200 rearwheel horsies)

R888' s are very nice ! But also very tricky with that amount of power in the rain... Take care !

 

Looks great. I would add a grille to cover the fans. Should not be very hard and it will give a finished look to the front.

But forget that. What a fun car it must be to completely embarrass those nuts in their wrxs and such.

 

The CV joints are the same as a Porsche 930. There are a million upgrades available for 930 joints (I have chrome moly "off road" joints in my car now).

I bought the material to fabricate a grille, but I keep driving the car instead of working on it.

Isolation... 308's are of the vintage were one still 'feels' the speed. It's highly disconcerting to feel the speeds of the new models in that chassis. Loads of fun though, The last supercharged engine propelled our 'development mule' GTB from 0-100-0 in a hair under 10secs. In a 308 going that fast increases the pucker factor ten fold!
