I am thinking of getting my father some hops for Christmas. He just recently started brewing his own beer. Problem is I have no idea what to look for when ordering some.

Anyone here brew their own beer? If so what what hops would you recommend?

I was looking at getting some kind of hops that would yield a unique kind of taste.

    Any and all recommendations appreciated.

If there is one, I recommend checking out your local brew store and speak with them.

Do some searching I bet there is a store somewhere nearby.

there are many types of hops available. what kind of beer does your dad brew? if he's doing micro brew style you may look for goldings. if he's doing lighter pilsner style i'd recommend sarz. for german style hallertaul. does he dry hop or does he use pelletized? as mentioned above there are many brew sites were you can find hops. so try to figure out what type of beer he brews the most or what characteristics he likes in his beer. you may even look into getting him hop plants to grow in the yard. they're very easy to grow.
