I went to see Michel Legrand at Birdland. I expected 40 year old French Folk music and French show tunes (what he's famous for). Wrong. He coupled with Ron Carter on the Bass (Truly a Jazz Master) and Lewis Nash on Drums (Another Jazz master) it was an outstanding performance. I believe tonight is his last performance. If you can, go! Tickets are on-line, but most of the seats are very good in the cozy dinner/club.

My first trip to Birdland, but certainly not my last.

    +1.
I went to Jazz Standard 2 weeks ago (27th between park and lex). Awesome jazz club and amazing food. Javon Jackson Band (david gilmore, kenny davis, rudy royston) with Lonnie Smith were jamming.
Would recommend this place for frieds/a date.
