I was just about to post this, looks like there was no attempt to stop or slow down for the corner.

That's what I don't get - there doesn't appear to be any attempt at all by either driver to slow down or turn.

    Brake failure.

Or reaching for his espresso in the non-existent cupholders in the Pista.

They were obviously racing each other and it got out of hand. They got into the curve WAY too hot and completely lost control. It's impossible both cars had brake failure at the same time, on the same curve.

For what is worth, one of the drivers is Dutch, the other Belgian. Foreigners in Italy, especially those driving Ferraris, often think Italian laws don't apply to them.

I declare the red car the winner since it hit the fence first.

I going to guess that the Duke of Hazzard is still very popular in Italy.

I think they are actually an F12 and a 296 GTS - btw, there are also two other threads about this accident ;)

i wonder if they made contact prior to the corner... so bizarre that egos would push both of them that hot in to the corner... they weren't even close so something tells me that something happened prior to the corner...

... or maybe they are just that bad that they were looking at each other drag racing or something and neither was paying attention to a very obvious turn coming up.

especially watching again, they would have seen the white car in front of them turn if they had their eyes on the road at all. They weren't that far behind it.

Somebody on here has to be able to get the story...

The thing I cant get my head round is there doesn't appear to be any effort made to slow down or take the corner. You would of at least expected them to be somewhere near the apex of the corner but they just ploughed straight ahead as if they were blind. Its really strange

My guess is it was a blind left turn based on the first car's (the non-Ferrari) motions.

The first car almost slow down to a stop which make me think somehow the turn is 'blind.'
