Just purchased a 2003 spider with 13.7k miles. The dealership indicated the brakes were replaced late last year and are practically new. However, they squeal when light pressure is used when braking. This is very annoying and as you know embarrassing. The dealer said apply heavy pressure and after awhile, it would go away. Yes, heavy pressure does work, but who wants to always apply heavy pressure

400 miles later they still squeal. Any suggestions on the easiest way to solve this issue?

You will likely have to 'Bed' them in, do a search and follow the procedure and that should take care of your brake squeal woes :)

The brakes need to be 'APPLIED'. Your light technique is just glazing the rotors.

A couple of track days will get rid of the sound, until you glaze them again.

When I got my 360 the brakes squealed really loud. I tried all of the bedding-in procedures described in previous posts and while it helped a bit, the squealing never went away. My mechanic said that the pads that were previously installed were causing the problem. He switched the brake pads back to OEM pads and the problem went away.

Did you question why the brakes needed replacing after 13k miles - something doesn't add up, either the mileage (???) or excessive wear (track) ?

Any time I've used alloy wheel cleaner on any car (porsche, volvo, bmw) it causes the brakes to squeal for a while. I think whatever chemical it is that removes the brake dust on the rim also eats away the "bedded"pad residue on the rotor as well and causes squeeling until the brakes are bedded again. Totally stopped using the crap.
