    Hey guys,

I'm looking to go out for breakfast or brunch on Sunday to a nice restaurant, but still looking for the traditional french toast and pancakes with eggs Benedict-type of place.

Any recommendations in the boston or newton-brookline area?

Some friends of ours own this place:

And we very much enjoy the sunday brunch there. It's a la carte, the room is nice, and the location is pretty good too.

For a buffet-type brunch, I was actually pretty surprised by the Hyatt on the Charles, on the Cambridge side of the river. Zephyr, their restaurant, has a Sunday brunch for something like $25 per person that had a lot of nice stuff in a buffet style. Kids eat free, too, and I think my kids ate their own weights in blackberries and chocolate-covered strawberries from the do-it-yourself chocolate fountain.

As long as you are on the Cambridge side of the Charles...Johnny D's in Davis Square, Somerville, serves an excellent, down-home Sunday brunch (grits, superb French-toast, etc.) The meal comes with complimentary live music (usually a small Jazz ensemble.)

I plan to be there with my family and a friend, Sunday. Shall I look for an F-Car out front??

Now that would be a nice alternative to Starbucks - Let's try to do that some time. What's the parking like there?

ha, I was at Johnny D's in Somerville about 2 weeks ago. Great scene, good grub, and jazz to boot during brunch.

FYI, they are packed, I got there by 11am, it was standing room crowded by noon. Not sure when they start or end brunch. There are street meters, and a good lot a block down that is tight. As I was leaving the lot, a half dozen other cars were also trying to back out and a jam ensued for close to 5 mins lol

Parking in Davis Square is pretty tough.

I live 5 minutes by foot from Johnny D's. If we wanted to hook up in the 'hood, I could fit 3 or 4 cars off the street in my driveway and put one or two on the street in front of the house. It's a pretty safe neighborhood, here. I have yet to have any problems parking outdoors with my F-car or my P-car.

Let me know what Sunday we should set things up. It would be a hoot to parade through the Square!
