Brennan's restaurant saga plays out in the courts and in the press | NOLA.com

For the last two years, the struggles of Brennans restaurant at 417 Royal St. have played out in the pages of NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune. The restaurant for years was run by Ted, Pip and Jimmy Brennan, the sons of founder Owen E. Brennan. Jimmy died in 2010.

Recently, a power struggle exploded into public view between Pip and Ted. At the same time, a group of investors led by local businessman Terry White bought the mortgage on the famous pink building in the French Quarter. In May 2013, White managed to force the property to a sheriffs sale, where he bought it for more than $6 million.

White partnered with restauranteur Ralph Brennan, Ted and Pips cousin, shortly before the sheriffs sale. The two are undertaking a massive renovation of 417 Royal St. and plan to open a new restaurant there in spring 2014.

Ted, who was reinstated as president of Brennans Inc. in December 2013, vows to reopen the restaurant at another location. The business, however, is facing an involuntary bankruptcy and the liquidation of its assets, which includes the Brennans name, its recipes and its rooster logo...

Wow! Nice synopsis and great picture.

So Ralph Brennan could potentially re-open the same Brennan's? Crazy.

Edit: One article quoted ralph:

When asked whether Ralph Brennan planned to reopen Brennan's, Beuerman replied: "Not the same restaurant. But it's safe to say that a new restaurant is high on the list of possibilities."

Anyone remember what the menu said about the $30 omelet?

It was something like: Our eggs are prepared in a very delicate manner.

I can't remember but always thought is was funny.

I ate there a few years ago and was really disappointed--- it certainly did not live up to the hype I had heard all my life. As for the menu, the website is still up: A New Orleans Tradition Since 1946 | Brennans
