    Hey guys,

Been talking to Gekko recently and we think it is time for another run. Are looking at one of the weekends in April. Figured I would see what everyone who is keen has on and work out which one is best for most. So if you can let me know we will get it rolling. Thinking we might have to try heading south/west out of Brisbane this time, so if you have any suggestions by all means let me know.

Got myself a JVC HD video camera before I went to NZ so that might be the top of choice. And my photos always look ordinary compared to the others.

for me just having the opportunity to be in the right place/time is 90% of the photo, composition is an afterthought.

I always seem to take ordinary photos of good subjects. The colours are never right a little grainy etc etc. Haven't a clue how to use photoshop to make them better.

I think thats the problem most amature photographers have. :D:D
I am one of them. I cannot take close up pics of anything without the pics being really blurry. Is it me, or could it be the camera? I have not really looked into any specific settings on the camera to correct this, I am just curious if anyone here can help me? :):)

Should be a MACRO setting that allows you to photograph things really close up.

just going through a bunch of pics with the new gallery system i'm putting up and so spent a couple of hours looking at yours from NT '05 the other night, tons of great shots, and plenty of "technically good" shots too (much better than i was doing with my little farty digicam  ), but yeah i notice a "graininess" with some of yours and not sure what to attribute it to.

the easiest program i've found for fixing colouring is Picasa. it's not so much cheating like people who extensively photochop their pics to "perfection", but sometimes pics just come out too blue or too red, especially in extremely sunny or overcast conditions... it's easy to just use a colour temperature slider to fix it and make it more natural.

sadly, two of the worst colours i've found are blood red and pearl yellow, oddly enough the two most common colours in my pics... :p the reds often come out pinkish, and the yellows kind of faded. a pretty standard "fix" i do to my pics is bump up the contrast a bit to sharpen up the image, however mhh's Gallardo doesn't like much of this, it makes it too overexposed, so it's often better to just add a touch of saturation to the whole pic.

i'll put up some before/after shots of the minimal yet effective post-processing i do to my pics if you want.

That'll be great or just email them to me. Might have to look into picasa, a mate uses that. Also any luck on those other photos?
