    I have a friend looking to spend $15,000-$25,000 on a series 3 convertible. What should he look out for in these cars. What years are the best?

    Hahahahahahahaha. That is hysterical!

    I would check out bimmerforums they are pretty well versed in BMWs over there. I would think $15k would get you a flawless E36 M3 vert and $20k will be a very nice E46 example. But I am only a casual observer so don't quote me. Should give you a starting point though.

    Since you are not likely to track a convertible anyway, I would go with an Audi S4 or A4 convertible. They are far superior in fir/finish and look better than the BMWs IMHO.

    That is about right. Probably a little lower for the e36.
