Anybody planning on going next Saturday?
AFAIK it's usually at Classic BMW at the Tollway and Spring Creek Pkwy. And early morning on that 1st Saturday of the month. http://www.classicbmw.com/
Yes, Classic BMW. 8-noon. But better get there earlier than 8 before the crapload of Mustangs get there.
Eric Maas of Classic has this to say. I want your opinion.... So, as you may have seen in my previous posts, I am a believer that cars and coffee dallas is a great show...and it has grown organically into being such. I have always said that I believe that it is a show for everyone, but now it appears because of the increased size of the monthly participants that there needs to be conditions placed on who can display their car on the main lot...... I am "think"ing of a mild remedy. I will place a small red card with the word "think" on the front of it on every car windshield that appears to belong in the spectator lot and not the main show lot. On the other side of the card the message will read something like, "this is a car show, is your's a show car?" I don't want to offend, I just want people to understand that others may have been unable to attend because they have acquired a parking space. What do you think? I'll be there this weekend. Look out for the tall black guy. -_- Anyway, I don't think it will get that bad, because the same number of cars don't show up to the event every month. May be more, may be less at times. Weather is a big deal too.
Can you not set criteria for the show? To make sure a normal production car doesn't take up valuable space?
If you do that you will have to define "show car" and "normal production car" as many people think they have show cars that don't?? What about turning it into a normal car show, charge a small $5 fee to get in, that would knock out a few... I'll take a small 10% fee for the idea. Also, I have seen large vehicles ridged to display there businesses that are clearly not show cars and take up entire corner sections, maybe they are paying to be there, I don't know? Josh
I'm a Classic BMW customer, my car is very nice I think and it's special to me(also not many manual shift E92s out there with both the Sport and the Premium packages). I love it and pamper it - I even park way across parking lots from store and restaurant doors (I don't like to valet - too many bad experiences and have seen other cars damaged during valet handling) to get a "door ding safe spot", and it does have some nice touches - matte gunmetal finish TSW Nurburging forged lightweight alloys, etc., but I will take this into consideration next time I attend.
I'll be there on Saturday and will introduce myself. My new-to-me 308 is still at Norwood for major and brake work, but I'll be walking around. Posted some picts of the major in action here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=332236&page=4 -Glen
I am going to CC in the morning for the 1st time in a while. We will see if I can actually get in. Last few times I went the lot was full so I have just stopped going. I am not willing to get there at 7 for a spot and I dont like leaving the car unattended in spectator parking, especially after what happened last year to some of the dealer cars. I will be in the 550. I hope Eric's new idea works for clearing some of the cars out.
I hear you. I've stopped going for the same reason. I'll try to make it tomorrow though. Perhaps I'll bring my camaro.
I read some of the comments about C&C here and I think they beg the question, is C&C a cruise or a show? The difference I think, is that a cruise is a gathering of people and their "cool" cars who hangout with one another to shoot the breeze about their cars (C&C?). A show is something involving an entry fee with cars divided up by classes you put on for Public viewing and mostly involves the presentation of trophies (Italian Car Fest?). So I guess I'm a bit confused by all of this. Which cars that show up at C&C are not cool enough to be considered cruise worthy? Or is C&C a show and the organizers have been forgetting to crown the winners? -Glen
C&C is a gathering, not a show or cruise per se. I'm reading the topic Blackbird posted. Some people make good points, but most of the people are just whining. Seems like we have three types of whiners. 1) a few making legitimate comments like: car clubs shouldn't hold meetings at C&C because they are taking advantage of Classic's hospitality and taking up too many spots. Metaphor: Somebody is having a party at their house and you decide to invite 10 of your friends and you all go in one of the guy's rooms and lock the door. It's rude. 2) people who don't wake up on time: if you want a spot, get there early. These people are acting like kids who cry and whine during musical chairs. "wahhhh, I didn't get a chair because I was slow, wahhhh." If you would get there early, you would get a spot. It's as simple as that. The people who decide to wake up at 5am, pack an ice chest, and bring a lawn chair actually really do deserve a spot more than you or I if we just wake up at 7, grab a bottle of water, and expect to be able to park. 3) spectators who want to show up, walk through for 10 minutes, and leave. Nothing wrong with that, but they need to realize this isn't Autorama or Concours. Not every car is going to be mindblowing or your taste. Go to a show where you have to pay $10+ to spectate if you want amazing content every 5 steps you take.
