You know it's sad but true. You of course get into who has the right to pass judgement bla bla bla, but what is this guy going to do in our society? He has no good place and both of their deaths would end a spree of money loss and spent. Pay for repairs to vandelized vehicles, cops, everything. Just oh caught you breaking into my car on my property and now since you're running to your car, you know you're doing something wrong so bang dead.

I hate thieves. I work hard and save to get a nice thing. Then those people either steal it, break it, or cause people money in other ways. I include my cut top and stolen seats as part of my rambling.

Well, VERY long (and still on going) story short, I wrecked my beautiful car almost two months ago and while it was at the shop it was broken into.

That's awesome that they got caught, but when he knew that guys were going around stealing cars and saw his house being cased and then the deal with the "carpet cleaner salesman" I would have traked him down through his lisence plate and beat the living f*ck out of him for casing my house and obviously wanting to steal my car before it happend. And with the cops refusing to do anything I wouldn't feal the least bid reluctant to do it :)

I am ever happy I have gated properties;) My other house in Houston is going to be a gated/guarded community, possibly still gate my property line just out of habit:)

Otherwise I do lose my temper over foolish BS like this so I would have gone over the deep end.

About 10 years back I had a convertible Saleen Mustang. The first night it was at the local Ford dealer getting repaired, thieves "broke in" and stripped it. I believe I heard they fired the night security guard. Sounds more like he should have been arrested to me. Took over a month to put the car back together again.

I'd have been much more pro-active. Car inside (there seem to be garages), get a dog, whatever. He had ALL the signs he was gonna get screwed ... why wait for it to happen?
Anyways. The thieves are gonna be out next week ... so ...

So, they show up again, they have walked onto my property without an invitation. That gives me the right to protect my family and my property. And God forbid if a cops tells me that I should not point guns at people to defend myself or my property.

I think they did the right thing by confronting the thieves themselves. If noone else is going to do anything about it, sometimes you have to do it yourself.

Like Vincent from Pulp Fiction, I can say "it almost woulda been worth it to get my car keyed if I could just have caught the fokker doing it!".

I would be on adrenaline overdose.. I would never go after the other guy, I would have stayed and pounded the living CRAP out of the one who stayed. You KNOW he knows the other guy, where he lives, etc, etc. I would have broken an arm or sumpthin and claimed self defense (with my friend backing me up) and I would have worked him over until he disclosed who his friend is. Then a few months later, the friend would get his.

I DESPISE THIEVES! They are scum and rarely realize how dangerous what they do is to themselves and how devastating it is to others. You feel violated and used when this stuff happens. The sad thing is it would be easy for the cops to get many of these guys but they don't bother. I worked with a guy who used to rob places and sell the stuff. He broke into a local engineering company and stole about 10 high end workstations. He broke into a drugstore and stole a bunch of drugs (Vicodin, Perks, etc) and was selling them like dope to friends. If cops went undercover and networked it would be so easy to bust these guys. It would help society a lot more than 5 over tickets at night.

That's why I like Texas! If they come on your property at night and are stealing something, you can shoot them. Of course their family may still win all your money in civil court, even if you were justified with the shooting.

A couple stories I've heard related to Texas home shootings...

Couple years ago a guy got off for killing a homeless guy that was going through his trash.

In the eighties a guy got off for killing his wife and her lover because "the wife shouldn't have been sleeping around and the lover shouldn't have been with her."

In NYC it is expected you shoot their ass. The only problem here is they want to go all liberal and are letting thieves SUE homeowners for injuries!

Just finish them off then, and dispose of the body yourself. Problem solved :)
Don't have to listen that Tyrone was just getting his life turned around and was almost back on track and that you shouldn't have shot him and that he is now the "victim" :(

The way the Texas law reads, thanks to the old cattle days, if during daylight someone is trespassing on you property you have to give a wounding shot, if no iminate threat is present, after dark you can give a fatal shot.

The laws are rather vague and can be bent rather easily

This thread reminds me that my plan to build an underground garage with 10+ spots BEFORE I get the cars isn't such a bad one after all..

In all seriousness, cars are just objects. Flying blind into a situation like that could risk your life.. ok, maybe a 250 GTO would be worth it, but an Audi? Unless there is a couple of million in the trunk that no one knows about, let them have it and let my insurance company cut me a check.

All of our non-garaged cars were broken into a few months back, and it was my neighbors who did it (I know this because one had my sunglasses on, kind of an odd choice of unique eyeware for a 17 year-old..) but I let it slide. They took the free CD's I got from work, some computer disks, a CD player and left me with a broken window.

Hopefully they try to break in to the house.. in which case a very loyal, 100 pound pit-mix and a 12 gauge will be there to greet them upon arrival. I'll get the sunglasses back eventually.

    -Chris
