Hopefully someone here will be able to help me out.

I'm going to be graduating high school next year, and want to go into business, primarily real estate in the City and the Hamptons, Either residential or commercial. I was just wondering if anyone has advice on what to major in during college. I was thinking just a general BA, that way I could fall back on that if real estate implodes. Would I need a finance focus as well?

I'm meeting with an agent at Brown Harris Stevens next week, hopefully something good will come out of it.

Anything you could tell me would be great guys.

Really depends on the school, but some schools allow you to major in real estate studies. So if you're sure thats what you want to do, than I would recomend that of course. Good thing about college is that you dont really have to decide on your major for a little while (my school was over 2 years), so just make sure you are taking relevant classes. I dont think there is a general BA major.

Also I am not sure if you are trying to become a developer/broker/ re investment banker/etc. If you just want to be a salesperson, you can just get your re licence, but taking some classes outside of school. Let me know if you have any other questions.

If you are going to a liberal arts college take some accounting and general finance classes. I also recommend taking some behavioral psychology and philosophy courses.
