i am not so i Interested in the story of what Carmax buys. I am more interested in WHY someone would go there to unload a low mileage Ferrari.

Probably because they will cut you a check on the spot good for a week and you can take it to the bank that same day. No fuss, easy and clean way to get rid of a car quick without all the BS.

My brother worked or Carmax for a long time and I've purchased and traded in several cars with them. Typically a good experience.

It had to be a situation where he needed quick cash. I can only speculate at this point.

* A Hit on someone
* Going through a divorce
* He is stocking up on New Nike apparel
* A large alpaca farm is in his future.

Who knows.

 

Same here....and are you sure they didn't get this car at auction?

 

They could have. You never know.

 

This is what I've heard/read as well. Can't comment on the alpaca farming angle though.

Texas Direct pays more than Carmax.

 

Interesting. I see their ads all over the place...T

 

I have sold several cars through them. Really easy. No bs. They look at your car and give you a 14-day quote. You like the price, sign the papers and get a check. It every case, Texas Direct has paid over Carmax AND Manheim.

 

texas forever - good to know.... I HATE dealing with jo-public on used car sales.... always end up with strange folks and even stranger offers of wedding rings shotguns, or hog hunts.......
