    Does anyone know which F40's (EU-models) are equipped without catalytic converter?
    Are it the early cars? Did the customer have the choice?

    Parts manual shows 2 versions, with and without cats. The cat version lists 2 types of cat - one for US, and one "Not for US".

    Based on that, I'd guess that you got the least amount of emissions equipment that the market the car was sold in would allow. So Switzerland probably had cats, UK probably not.
