Finally had a chance to go to Hennessy today and check out Porsche's newest model... The profile is somewhat reminiscent of an Audi TT, but in my opinion, this is one of the best looking modern-day Porsches thus far (aside from the CGT of course)... I was this ll close to getting a ride in it...!!! Oh well... Here are some pictures...

Nice photos. I’ve always thought the Audi TT was reminiscent of the 911 ;)

LOL, if I thought anyone in the Porsche community collected that information, I would've recorded it...

There was a red one there, right next to this one, but as I went out there to take pictures, the red one was leaving... It sounded pretty awesome and, even in the rain, once the guy pulled out of the dealership, he gave the throttle a good squeeze and hauled right up the little hill on the side road out of the dealership... It has a really nice sound to it...

I like it, but the price is too high to not just go ahead and get a Carrera.

I got to sit in one here in SA - it IS bigger inside than a boxter. I fit in a Caymen with headroom, but am cramped in a boxster (and an SLK as well).
For what this car is designed to do, it's brilliant.

I stopped into a porsche dealer today and the Cayman S looks much much better in person than in all the photos I've seen to date..

I appreciate your shots all the same...just thought I'd give my 2 cents of the car..

In person...it really was sharp although the rims I saw on the car today was different. (probably a size larger? and different style...)

I prefered the rims I saw throughout the dealership today over this new porsche design the car in your photos shows...

I couldn't give up my personal ride for a cayman still I can admire it for its design.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I think the Cayman is very pretty, but as with all Porsches, look best in silver.;)

In the "bahama yellow" it reminds me of the Karmann Ghia...especially the roofline and rear fender line from the side view. The S is pretty hot, but agree it's pricey. Why not shoot the whole wad and get the real deal? Received lots of free stuff from Porsche on this car. I suspect they have a lot riding on its success.

I know there are actually some crazy nut jobs out there that collect serial numbers from cars :)D) so if I ever come across a CGT, I will be sure to jot down the number for you crazies... :)

    DES,
Holler at me if I'm hijacking and I'll delete, o.k.? But I've a question/thought that the Porsche guys can probably help with. Let me add that I am a big fan of the cars, their history/accomplishments, etc....So:
The obvious future of high performance autos seems to be either front or rear mounted, mid-engined vehicles. Doesn't it make sense that Porsche is 'dipping it's toe in the water' with, first the Boxster and now the Cayman?
Wouldn't we all expect that Porsche will develop this car to become its 'flagship' performer in the coming years, and shuffling the 911 platform to the 'rear' (pun intended) to be sold to traditionalists?
I mean, my goodness, if Porsche had mounted the tuned 3.6 motor--or offered a turbo'd 3.6, wouldn't we all have been looking at a world class car right from the beginning?
    It's the future, no?

Needs to sink an inch lower and lose that horrid color, maybe a wheel swap with the CGT and we're all set!

Wheres the clubsport we were promised? ;)

That's a new color requested for OB-GYNs : Meconium Yellow

And, I am sure there is already a factory Cayman with a tuned 3.6, maybe more than one.

I think this car is amazing with huge development potential in many classes. Can't wait to see it in ALMS or LeMans.

I didnt like this car at first but just saw three in the flesh at a dealership tonight. Two of the cars had the "Cayman S" wheels (as sighted on the sticker) and looked about 19". The car was fantastic in the flesh, and quite a fresh design. Front still almost too Boxterish for my taste but still an improvement. On another note, I was flabergasted to see one spec-ed out to sticker of $86k!!! It didnt even have the carbon brakes!! Read the spec sheet and seemed that it just had ALOT of useless extra goodies added on.. One that I would recomend: the $845 metalic flake seal grey paint. It was GORGEOUS.
