I was just wondering, were some 88 Testarossas made with centerlock wheels? I ask because I have seen some ads for 88 TRs and they had these wheels, and I thought they had them only up to the 87s.

    Thanks,
    Andy

The 5-lug wheel TR were known as "1988 1/2" or "1988.5" when introduced (to distinguish them from 1988 TR with the single bolt wheels).

    Steve,
Thanks for that info. I always thought I had a 1988.5 since I have the dual mirrors yet I have center lugs. Do you know if they switched to dual mirrors at about ther same time as they went to the 5-lug wheels?

Any idea how many TR's were made in 1988 that still had center lugs but dual mirrors?

Don't have any specific information on that, but, unlike the wheels, the outside mirrors can more easily be changed/added/removed (back when the parts were available ;)) so there's no guarantee that the present mirror configuration (single/dual/high/low) on a particular TR matches the as-built condition.

I may have read it wrong but according to the parts manual(s) the first mention of a RH mirror came at car #6707X, but that sure seems very early in 1987 production (67xxx-74xxx)--I thought it occured later in 87 or even early 88 production?? The bigger "88.5" updates (wheels/suspension/steering) came at car #75996. 1988 production went from VIN 74xxx - 791xx. As a point of reference, my 88.5 (VIN 77094, April assembly) has both the dual mirrors and 5-lug wheels.
