changing battery

    Guys just wondering if it was hard to change the battery for a 360 or I should know anything before I attempt to do it. I know it is on the passenger side. Any suggestions on the kind of battery I should use?

    I have had an Optima Yellow Top battery in my BB512i for over ten years now. While I do keep in on a battery tender, it works as good now as it did the day it was installed.

    Don't touch the battery unless you: 1. make sure that the posts and size are identical, not reversed, and 2. You have the radio codes.

    Other than the above, it's pretty easy. Make sure that you've charged the batter at a low level, and it's fully topped off. Will guarantee a long life for the battery.

    Unfortunately, Optima battery quality has gone downhill over the years. There are quite a few reports on FChat about this.

    So on a 360, a recap so i don't make a critical mistake.

    1) turn main power off on frunk switch.
    2) remove footwell panel and remove battery.
    3) Install new Odyssey battery 720 CCA and hold down bar
    4) Turn main power switch back on
    5) turn ignition key to position 2 and wait for 10 seconds for car to "learn settings"
    6) start
    7) enter radio codes when/if promted.

    Do i have it right? Am i missing something?

    You forgot the most important step; The engine needs to run for 10 minutes at idle do not touch the throttle and it must be cold so engine and ECUs can run through their cycles. should be after #6.

    one more thing. i don't have to have a temporary charger to save stored data from the car do i? I thought i had read conflicting posts regarding some cars needed to be taken to dealer to have software downloaded, etc.

    I have not heard of that. That was never a problem on my 355, 512 or my 458. check your owners manual to see id there is anything on that.
    If you are concerned with that potential problem; plug a 12 volt source into your cig. lighter that would keep power in the system.

    You can get a memory saver that plugs in the 12v round plug in the cabin that has a 9v battery it will hold all you settings when you disconnect the Battery

    thanks. do i need to do this for car settings or radio settings? I could care less about radio settings. i haven't ever even turned on the radio.

    Hi everyone, my battery is dead and I tried charging it with a trickle charger all day today but it's still completely dead. I did my homework to see if I can replace the battery myself, but every post mentions shutting down the frunk battery shut down switch before replacing. However, my shut down switch doesn't work. Urgh. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this situation? Crossing fingers, thank you all for your time and attention.

    Sorry for the late response. It sounds like a 360/430, you could do it the battery swap without the switch cut off. You would need to remove the ground post connection first and make sure the connection doesn't touch the battery while working. Once the ground is off and secure, you have no danger of arcing from the positive side while working on it. Do be sure the new battery protection caps are on as you work the new battery in. Having the post contact metal as you pass it into position could happen. Just be careful and hopefully the connections have not been damaged from past work. I see this frequently in replacing batteries.

    I used an empty paper towel roll. I cut the cardboard roll lengthwise and slid it over the top bar to insulate it from any arcing.
