At the local airplane Jiffy Lube and couldn't believe what taxied out and took off vertically! This is a big Class D airport, but appears they are either testing or doing some hover practice down the runway. I have video of the take off and hover too.

That's the AgustaWestland AW609, formerly the Bell 609, a smaller civilian tiltrotor based on the technology of the V-22. Its size is closer to the XV-15, the technology demonstrator that led to the V-22.

I asked someone when leaving and that's what they said, they are testing and certifying 609. Very cool, they were just working the pattern and hovering, never saw them put the rotors forward.

I want an ''F14 Tomcat'' you could bring along a friend, only problem is then you need your own aircraft carrier too,

but it would look real cool 2-4 miles off downtown chicago

    Rob,

Where do you get your oil changed? Seriously. Since I am running two oil screen equipped IO-470s, I have the pleasure of two oil changes every 25 hours. Always looking for good options around Dallas in case I am not near one of my shops when it comes due.
