Mitch is a man of few words! :D

Especially if his clock isn't working and he doesn't know how much time he has! ;)

These are mechanical clocks, are they repairable by a local clock shop that deals in mechanical clocks and watches?

There used to be an infamous spot in or near Downey (Southern California) and I recall reading good comments about Palo Alto too.

EDIT: Cant find the Downey location anymore but it has been 20 years since I used them so maybe it's gone.

Just received fast service from The Clock Works in Eagle River, WI. Rebuilt/repaired a '60s era Kienzle/VDO clock with shipping for $109. Just over a week turnaround. Very happy, will use them again.

Kevin, is it fairly accurate now? All my clock does is kill the battery...

Any tips on how to remove a 412 clock? Mine is dead so I would like to take it out and get it refurbed. Thanks in advance.

That sounds strange. It's hard to imagine even a malfunctioning clock drawing enough current to drain a battery in less than a couple of months. Could there be something else causing that drain or have you measured the clock with an ammeter?

In my experience (sample of one) the clock keeps excellent time.

In my experience electric/mechanical clocks use a capacitor that gets a charge when the clock slows as the capacitor is depleted. They shouldn't draw a lot of current but with 2 or 3 months, I could see one slowly draining a battery, especially a weak or small battery
