I'm trying to budget for service and reapir costs for a 348. I assume a 15k and 30k service are the same thing but how much more should I budget for if it needs a clutch? Most of the cars I'm looking at are 15 to 30,000 miles. I figure if it's having its major service I might as well put a clutch in it. Also if someone could give me an estimate of the worst case for a major i.e. tensioners, water pump etc etc. I can get the major servie done a good shop in the area for $5,000, Just want to be prepared for whatever else could crop up.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Depends on whether your car has a single disc or dual disc clutch. Also depends on whether you require a throw out bearing. What year is your car?

One of the numerous early 348's we service needed tensioners, a water pump and a dual disc clutch including a release bearing upgrade a couple years ago and it came out to around $9K. We've seen him for nothing but oil changes since that time.

Yep, the early dual disc set-up is over $1300 more. Maybe next time, I'll buy a flywheel for my car and go single disc! <grin>

I would guess worst case if you need everything mentioned here could be done for $8000 or so. Call Auto Italia in Jupiter Florida and ask Vinnie about it (561) 743-9331. I just had my major service done on my 348 there and am very happy with the service. Vinnie is the only one in the shop so if he is working under a car just leave a message. I can also say Vinnie will give you the straight answer on what the car you bring him actually needs without selling you alot of extra services.
