Is there any way to stop all these popping up whenever i put a cd/dvd in or turn on my external hard drive?

That takes care of the cd bit, thanks. Anyone know how to turn off autorun for hard drives/memory sticks etc?

 

Try a MS tool called Tweak UI( http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx ), and look for the autoplay option and you can disable all of them(if I remember correctly). here is an image that shows the option. http://www.soniacoleman.com/FAQs/FAQ00158.htm
