I have it on very good authority that there has been an addition mistake at the Qld Concours that has altered the outcome of one class and the overall runners up position.

I believe that an error in the addition of the score sheet of an un-named competitor results in him taking the class win and overall 2nd place.

What is the general consensus on what should happen now, given that the 2 trophies in question have been presented to the wrong person?

Find the person whose job it was to add up the scores, make them wash & polish Moretti's car for a year.

Mmm - that's a tricky situation. I'll have to give it some thought. Someone is going to be disappointed. I've seen this happen before @ Concours events (wrong additions). Sometimes it only alters the results for the person in question. When it affects results in a domino effect, it can become quite complicated, especially when the trophies have been handed out, fait accompli.

Geez Ian, that's a bit rough. The guy only made a mistake, he didn't kill anyone. :)

If too many people know about the error then the winner will have to be contacted and the situation explained. It's really up to the organisers if they want to follow it up or just leave things as they are. How upset was the 2nd place getter on the day?

He was wondering why his car did so bad, then found the mistakes, which added up to 19 points I think. (totals in the mid 400's) Went from 18 behind to 1 in front!

Most simple thing to do is to present an extra trophy to the person that missed out on the day - or (assuming the scores are kept 'secret') say that upon rechecking that there was a tie and an extra prize is to be presented! That's assuming none of the people involved read Fchat...
Ultimately it's best to be upfront about it so that it doesn't come back & bite you in the ass months down the track. Speak to everyone involved and don't take the prize off the guy who got it presented on the day!

No, in my experience the only thing that leads to anamosity in car clubs is Concours events. I wasn't an entrant......and I like stirring. ;)

err, last year you asked for the sheets to see how you lost with a brand new Stradale , Q had a brand new 575 and the Simie's TR was also immaculate, picking a winner is always tough

Given who was doing the adding up, I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if an error any where near this magnitude occured. Also since there were 11 points between the top 2 places, I don't think even 19 points would move you that far up the field.
Also don't forget that gross points are adjusted for age to get final scores.

Errrrr, there is now 10 points between the top 2 places as there was a mistake of 19 points which put the 3rd place getter 1 in front of the 2nd place getter.

BTW it's nothing to do with HOW a concours is scored it's only a mistake in the addition of the scores on the pages.

Ooops, sorry I forgot we were talking about runner up... Still surprised there could be such a big error as generally each page is double checked by the 2 people responsible for that page and this is finally checked by the 2 master adder-uppers.
