    Hi all,

If I bring my 348 from Dubai (U.A.E) to Canada, do I have to have conversion work done on the car ?

    The 348 is European Spec.

I believe you do. The car must be 15 years or older to bring in without doing the retro fit. There is a government website you can look at which will give you the details, I think it is the ministry of transportation.

If you are coming here for a limited period (6mo-1 year or so) there is a way to get the car into the country and use your existing license plates....etc...without modifications. You never mentioned why, or how long the car was coming here, so I thought I'd mention this.

Ya, I almost made a deal on a 1990 US car and was glad I didn't. I never saw the double astirisks ** beside the car name on the RIV listing and didn't realize what I could have been stuck with. It was much easier to get the 87 328 I have now.

Gosh, I hope it isn't REALLY $15,000.00 for bumpers, is it?

I was at Lamborghini of Toronto last year. They had a US model 355 Spider for sale. Stated price of the bumper conversion was $15K.
You might find cheaper ways of doing it but you'd have to make sure the RIV will certify the work.

On a footnote.......Porsche 911 bumper shocks that must be replaced on certain cars crossing the border cost about $800 each. Go figure..........

That website is telling me to take my Ferrari to Canadian Tire? A chain store with mechanics fresh out of trade school who only do R & R as that is how Canadian Tire makes its money. If you work for Canadian Tire you MUST use their parts for repairing your car. Excuse me, Mr. Boss man, I can't seem to find parts for my Ferrari anywhere in this store. Please people, take your car to people who KNOW Ferrari's inside and out. We don't need a thread called "Bad Converion Nightmare at Canadian Tire".

Canadian Tire is just to inspect your car, to make sure it meets Canadian requirements. Don't know if they could actually tell you have the right bumpers or not. You should get the conversion done at the dealer of course. BTW, a non US spec car that is not at least 15 years old can not be imported into Canada.
