Another coolant is the stuff Mercedes sells. There was some mention in the National Mercedes Club magazine that Prestone was NOT to be used in their cars. And my data point has been no corrosion buildup in 25 years in 8 cars and specifically 2 f cars over 8 years. The independant that did my last 348 major wanted to know what I used because of how little corrosion present. FWIW

Am running the Zerex in my 575M. Good stuff. Just about everything slippery in my car is Valvoline and it all works great.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I use prestone 70/30 with distilled water.....max cooling efficiency mix according to the instructions on the container.

Every time I flush the coolant ( once a year ), I fill with distilled water and run the prestone flush cleaner. I drive with that a few days, drain out, then refill with coolant.

You won't believe the color and stuff that comes out when you started with a clear cleaner and distilled water.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I'm always willing to try new things.

......I wish the girls I know thought the same. :D

Perhaps that's why I get a bit of crud even though I change coolant once a year....hmmmm

I run that in my BMW's. Much easier on the plastic components in the cooling system.

OK...took the plunge and went with the recommendations of this thread!! I drained the system, refilled it with pure distilled water...ran the engine with heater on full. Drained it again then filled it with two bottles of Prestone coolant flush...ran that for about 60-70 miles (3-4 days worth of driving), drained that and finally refilled it with distilled water, 1 gal of Prestone Dex-cool (orange in color) and bottle of Water Wetter.

Guess what? With temps here in Vegas in 110 deg F, this set-up really works perfectly! Before with regular 50/50 my temp gauge was close to the middle with the fans running almost constantly. Now, the fans do kick in but the temp sits almost at 1/4 of the gauge.

It's definately transferring the heat better and at the same time, it gets rid of it in a snap. If it works in Las Vegas, it has to work anywhere else! hahahha

Sooooo....thank you for your input into this. It really makes me drive my car with great confidence
