Was/am in Fresno (mistake number 1) and was turning into a mall to get power steering fluid when a teeneager in a Hyundai decided to race up the right side to get to a set of lights ahead. She failed to see the bright red car in front of her.

She was also wearing fuzzy leopard print slippers. I not sure what was worse - those or the accident....

Sorry to hear/see this David ... since the speed of which Miss Slippers struck your car was somewhat low, do you think there is any frame damage, or is it just a flesh wound?

Hopefully, of course, it is only a flesh wound.

Thanks guys... we tried to drive it home today, but it shakes at speed and pulls to the right, so we decided not to drive it home.

Miss slippers locked up one wheel for at least 10 yards according to the marks on the road. Her car came off a lot worse than we did, so maybe there is some justice. :) I suspect she hit us at about 30 and I was maybe doing 5. Could have been a lot worse.

The shaking is not a good sign IMHO. O well..... life goes on.

That completely blows chunks Dave! Glad you didn't get hurt, and hopefully Slippers the Stripper had insurance to make up for her faux pas. Did you have the family with you?

No way - your car now has "stories". I say we get three other Mondials and draw and quarter her :D

It appears as though the bimbo from hell does indeed have AAA insurance.

As for the car having stories, well, it was a good buy, has over 50K miles, so I am sort of hoping it gets written off. I did have this fantasy however of having the first Mondial with 250K miles on it.... It is/was a daily driver.

Fortunately the family was not with us - just Carina and I. I did just finish getting the Sparco 4 point harnesses installed in the back for the kids though. Kind of cool....

I thought an update might be in order....

Dave (Premier) has the car and the qtr panel should arrive there today. The damage is expensive (almost 20K) but minor. There is no mechanical damage to either suspension or oil cooler. It seems the smoke that was emanating from the engine bay was due to some idiot overfilling the PS fluid (me) and it overflowing onto the exhaust. Even the rear window mechanism was unhurt! Turns out the shuddering was caused by a bent wheel (to be replaced by a set of 355 wheels).

Due to the scratches on the rear bumper and the door, the whole side of the car will be repainted to Dave's high standards, and he's going to attend to stone chips at the front.

I have no doubt that the car will return better than before it was hit.

I'll get some pics of Dave's progress next time I visit him, but he had the old qtr panel removed and the car all cocooned up. The inside of that area was spotless - surprising for a 16 yo car. No rust, no corrosion, and no dirt.

Thanks to all those who recommended Dave and Premier.
