Do 430's have cruise control? Do any Ferraris? I honestly do not know. All I know is that my 360 does not have it.

No cruise control available from Ferrari. Well, none that I know of mate. :):)
Although I have seen Ferraris fitted with aftermarket cruise control.:eek:

I'm surprised GTs like the 550/575, 599, and 612 aren't equipped with cruise. Guess that would make too much sense?

When the floormat scoots up against the gas pedal you have Ferrari's answer to cruise control. No cupholders either...just put it between your legs (unless you wear a dress, then you are SOL).

    Hope this helps. :)

308/328 have floormats that can get jammed in the accelerator. Are you talking about voluntary cruise control or this random feature?

Seriously, I would be surprised if the 599/612 wouldn't have it.

I know it's probably wrong, but there are times when it would be nice, being tailed by highway patrol for example :)

I'm one of those guys who loves cruise control. Since I can't see the top left quarter of the speedo in my 328, it would be nice to have cc to keep it at the same speed while I'm crusing 100 miles on I5. (Yes, I do just read the tach, since that's more accurate than the speedo anyway!!!)

My Toyota Avalon daily driver has laser cruise control. That's a sweet option, since it slows down if someone slows in front of me, then speeds back up. The downside is that it will slow without any notice, and I'll find I've been driving for a mile or two at 58mph in a 60 behind some slow SUV!

I drove a 599 GTB -- it did not appear to have a cruise control feature.

The new 612s will have factory supplied CC option for first time in a Ferrari. About time, too. It'll be a far cry from the nicely integrated systems on every other car built in the world, but it'll be there. Good first step in my opinion. If only they'd get over the childish belief we need a start button in our faces and build the CC and stereo controls into the steering wheel. Criminy: give me controls at my hands I'll actually use more than once a trip.

would be nice if I even knew that the speedo was accurate, but

The 599 has no cruise control but a lot of other driver aids.

Yes, my old Audi S4 had cruise and it was a stick. The cruise would shut off if you shifted, just like it shuts off when you brake.

You can definately have cruise on a manual... I drove my 355 to Atlanta a trip of 500 miles each way and was really wishing the car had cruise control. Glad to see the 612 is getting it. Maybe the 430 someday...

my '02 acura rsx has a 5 speed stick WITH cruise control. I don't use it very often since I usually drive during the usual crowded rush hour commute. The few times I've tried it, it works OK.

Interesting article on the 599 GTB.
It mentions the lack of cruise control as an option.

    http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=40942

Here are a couple of quotes from the article:

"The analog speedometer is hard to read (the increments are 20, 50, 80, 110 - all the way to 360kmh) and the digital speed display is at the bottom of a fussy instrument cluster. This is an issue given that the 599 - and every Ferrari for that matter - does not have cruise control. Ferrari says it has never had a request from a customer for cruise control because, it says, its customers want to drive the car. That may be so but if Ferrari wants its customers to keep their licences so they can continue buying Ferraris, perhaps it should consider the merits of this licence-saving device. Instead it has its own digital lap timer."

"The 599 isn't perfect, though. The magnetically controlled suspension can be a bit noisy on expansion joints in the road."

"And there's no driver's vanity mirror (perhaps Ferrari drivers aren't so vain after all)."

As to cruise, I could use that on long trips. That is why I don't take the 575 on long ones. As to the vanity mirror on the driver's side, I have a different take. It is the same one I have on cell phones, Iphones, Ipods, combs, makeup. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, DUMMY!!!

Back in the 80s, when I had my repair shop in Rochester, NY, I did a number of cruise control installations on Ferraris, from the 308 up to the 400.

It's relatively straightforward and anyone with a bit of mechanical aptitude can do it.

Depending on the car's requirements, I used a few different systems, purchased from Sears (made by DANA) and JC Whitney (No idea who made them).

Every installation was custom and was integrated such that it looked like original equipment. The tricky part was making it look like it truly was factory installed.

I offered a money back, no-questions-asked satisfaction warrantee on every installation and never had one returned.

    They worked flawlessly.
